    Equities received a nice boost on Friday after calming words out of Europe and a rate cut in China (more below). Bonds on the other hand went to sleep ahead of Thursday’s turkey day. The S&P closed up +1.2% for the week while small-caps were essentially flat. International stocks in dollar terms gained +0.7%, but returns were pulled down by the -1.1% loss in the euro and -1.2% loss in the yen. ...

    All in all it was a pretty quiet week for the global equity markets. The S&P 500 added +0.4% for the week while the overseas markets gained fractionally more. Two standouts for the week were 1) China and Hong Kong (+3% and +2.2%) on news that Chinese domestic A-shares will become easier to buy, and 2) Japan (+3.6%) on the news that the VAT hike may be delayed....
